- Our distinctive umbrella celebrates a unprecedented American quilt (ca. 1875) in The Met assortment, which was initially made by Ernestine Eberhardt Zaumseil (American, born Germany, 1828-1904). It bears the Tree of Life sample, a preferred bedcover design for the reason that seventeenth century. The first such bedcovers, referred to as palampores, have been from India and featured unbelievable stylized timber. In Zaumseil’s quilt, the foliage is extra lifelike than within the Indian variations. She appears to have traced precise leav

central “tree” is taken from grapevine leaves, and maple and
